Psychologists tell us that this year January 23 is the saddest day of the year. Gloomy weather, holiday bills have arrived, and it seems like it’s a long time until spring. They call it “Blue Monday.” We reject that notion, and have renamed the day “Bluegrass Monday” and have invited Flo and the Boys to celebrate.

Thursdays just got better at The Granville Inn!
Due to the popularity of our Wine Wednesdays, the Craft Beer contingent demanded equal time, so we will be hosting Craft Beer Thursdays on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
Starting at 5 pm in our Acorn Pub or the Oak Room, for $10, taste four different beers and enjoy the music of “Flo and the Boys”. Chef Chad will include a tasty tidbit and Jordan will be manning the bar.
On alternate Thursdays, for every draft beer you purchase from 5-9 pm in the Oak Room or Acorn Pub, you can keep the specialty glass for just $1.50.

Eighth Annual Granville Inn Chili Cookoff Shaping up to be Largest Ever
New Contestants, Local DJ add to Chili Cookoff Excitement
Chili Cookoff organizers announced today that additional sponsors and contestants indicate that the eighth annual Granville Inn Chili Cook-off may be the most successful ever. To be held Saturday, September 24th, this year’s event will once again fill the front of the College Town House in addition to the Granville Inn’s lawn. Event proceeds this year will be split between the Granville Senior Fellowship and the Granville Recreation District Grace Dils Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Returning event sponsors include Park National Bank, Central Ohio Geriatrics – Dr. John Weigand, Whit’s Frozen Custard, American Health Network Pediatrics Drs. Pfau, Knobeloch & Killion, Home Instead Senior Care, Denison University, Granville Carriage Company and M&H Screen Printing.
Chili cooks include last year’s Grand Prize Winner Derek Pelzer State Farm Insurance and 2009’s winner Center for Sight’s Chili Doctor – Dr. Mark Law. Additional returning cooks are Brad Koehler’s Two and a Half Men and A Crock, the Thompson Family, Granville Chapel and Chapel Grove Inn. New entries in the competition this year include Bath Fitter of Ohio and WCLT Radio’s Doug Pricer.
Granville grad Ryan Edgington joins the event this year as DJ and MC. Music, trivia contests, and the Granville Recreation District Harvest Festival family activities begin at 10 am. Chili tasting begins around 11 am and will continue until the chili runs out. Judges will collect samples at noon and the award ceremony will take place at 1 pm.
Entries and sponsors will be accepted up to the start of the event. Rules and entry forms for the Chili Cook-off are available at the Inn’s Front Desk, on their website www.granvilleinn.com or by calling the Inn at 740-587-3333.

Granville Inn Announces Executive Appointments, Upcoming Sunday Dining
Javier Vazquez, Daniel Morris and Kathleen Carey join the Granville Inn Management Team
The Granville Inn today announced three executive appointments.
Javier Vazquez has been named Banquet and Events Coordinator; he has over 15 years of experience in catering and event management, including running his own business, Windy City Catering in metro Chicago. He recently relocated to Central Ohio.
Daniel Morris joins the Inn as Bar Manager; he most recently served as General Manager at the Hubbard Grille in the Short North. Previously, he worked with Cavalier Beer Distributing, was an estate manager in Malibu, California, and booked entertainment for several clubs in Cincinnati. He attended the University of Cincinnati and took graduate classes at Cincinnati State.
Both Vazquez and Morris report to Food and Beverage Director Julie Mulisano.
Kathleen Carey was named Lodging Director for the Inn; she most recently served on the Front Desk staff and also as a customer service representative at Sears in Heath, Ohio.
In addition, the Inn announced that it will begin Sunday brunch and dinner service, starting in mid-September. Check with the Inn at 740-587-3333 for Sunday dining reservations.

2011 Granville Art Affair and Rotary Wine Festival

The Granville Art Affair jury has selected 85 artists for participation in this year’s show. Event promoters Sandy Libertini and Melinda Moore are delighted that the selection includes over 40 new artists, insuring that the show presents new art every year. This year’s participants include artists from throughout Ohio plus Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.
The 2011 Granville Art Affair will feature all forms of artistic media at all price points including oil and acrylics, clay, wood, watercolor, fiber, ceramics, metal, jewelry, leather, glass, and more. Last year’s two day event drew over 3,500 visitors. Held on the Great Lawn of the Bryn Du Mansion, admission to the Granville Art Affair is free. Entertainment is provided both days, as well as an array of food vendors. Sunday’s event will include a Columbus Polo Club match.
This year’s Rotary Winemaker’s Dinner will be held on Friday evening, June 10, at the Bryn Du Mansion. Hosted by the renowned Nicola Biscardo of Verona, Italy and catered by Creative Cuisine of Columbus, the gourmet five-course meal promises to be an unforgettable dining experience. Tickets for the Winemaker’s Dinner are $125 and may be purchased at the Granville Inn or online at www.granvilleartaffair.com.
The Wine Festival, to be held on Saturday, June 11, will welcome 24 restaurants, six wine distributors and several Ohio wineries. A new addition to the Wine Festival this year is the Matesich Belgian Beer Garden. Wine Festival Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at Ross’ Granville Market, The Granville Inn or Park National Bank’s Granville Office. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.granvilleartaffair.com ($42) or at the gate on the day of the event ($50). The Wine Festival is a major fundraiser for Granville Rotary and supports a wide range of local, national and international service projects as well as scholarship and youth exchange programs.
